worldwidecommerceautosales.com moved to online auctions?

#11
I bought a truck from the World Wide Commerce Autosales physical location about two years ago. Back then, it was a pretty standard experience—walked the lot, looked at a few trucks, kicked the tires, and haggled a bit with the guys in the office. It was a good experience and the price was fair.

I was looking to pick up another work vehicle recently and decided to check them out again, but I see they’ve pivoted almost entirely to these online blind auctions.

It feels like a totally different business model now. I’m a bit hesitant to buy a truck online without seeing it in person, especially since I used to deal with them face-to-face.

Has anyone dealt with them both ways? Is the online inventory as solid as the stuff they used to keep on the lot, or is the online auction stuff mostly higher-risk? Curious if the quality has held up since they made the switch.

I actually called them yesterday looking to see if I could just come walk the lot like the old days. I got a hold of the Sales Manager, James Byrne.

He told me straight up that they’ve moved almost all their operations to the online auctions now. He said the physical lot is mainly for logistics and storage while the vehicles cycle through the bidding process. He seemed pretty busy but confirmed that if I wanted a vehicle, the online blind auction is the only way to get it now.

spoke with James Byrne last week about a pickup truck. He was super helpful but made it clear they don't do the 'walk-in' sales anymore. He explained that they can reach way more people through the online auctions than they ever could with a local lot. He said the blind auction format lets them move inventory faster without having to sit on cars for months. I was bummed I couldn't just drive there, but he sent me over a link to the auction listing and the vehicle looked solid.

Yeah, James filled me in on the changes. He told me they aren't trying to compete with CarMax or used car dealers anymore. They are positioning themselves as an online auction house for repossessed vehicles and equipment. He told me they moved the phone system (hence the fax number confusion) because they don't have the sales staff for individual car buyers anymore. It's all about online volume these days

They have cars/rvs/boats and heavy equipment, they just extended the business, i really like this new idea blind auctions

I know, right? They offer transport as well + one week return if you're not happy with your equipment

Because worldwidecommerceautosales was known only in Kentucky, now they extended the business online so they have a higher rate of succeed. I think this was a great idea! I didn't bid yet and I'm curious how it's working?

They have all details on their website or you can call James or leave a message. It's mostly about Blind Auctions, it means you can't see the others bids so you bid as much as you think worth it, it's a nice idea because there's no war at the end of the auction

I called the old number, got the fax screech, and finally found a new line to call.
